JAPAN ECONOMIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE
| What is Japan Economic Research Institute(NIKKEICHO)? Japan Economic Research Institute(NIKKEICHO) began its activites in March 1962 as a voluntary body co-sponsored by Keidanren, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Keizai Doyukai and Japan Foreign Trade Council. The main purpose of the establishment was to engage in the study of domestic and foreign economic, social and business management problems on a long- or medium-term basis from a global standpoint. NIKKEICHO was re-organized as a non-profit organization in September 1967 and remains the same today. And, in July 1981, NIKKEICHO was designated as one of the institutions officially recognised as contributing to the public welfare purposes. As an independent and neutral non-governmental economic research organization, the Institute publishes results of unbiased studies based on its research activities by cooperation between industry and academia. In addition, since its foundation, the Institute has made more than 200 timely policy proposals which have exerted substantial influences not only domestically but also internationally, as opinions free from interests of any social stratums or groups. The Institute also prepares various basic referential materials and moreover plays an active role in promoting international exchanges at private levels. |
